editing, stressed, editing, stressed

OKAY, i am writing this while being STRESSED!
For the past 5 ½ hours i have been editing this documentary and so far i have only edited 3 minutes worth. I have 2 more minutes worth of film to complete! But i do have to say, i love the way it is coming out. I am very happy that Sammy and i decided to change our idea to do the first 5 minutes of this film. The main reason why i love it: i love the opening. The opening really shows that we are about to represent a school play and that’s what we really needed. Also, our B- role is going perfect with our interviews. Even though editing stresses me out so so much, in the end i love seeing the results and seeing what i created.

i had an epiphany

So basically we changed A LOT! After looking at all the footage we had filmed over the past month, I decided we needed a new look on the 5 minutes that we are creating for this documentary. Our original idea was to incorporate about 2 minutes showing practice and prep for the play and then 3 minutes showing backstage and the actual show. But… i hated the interviews we took for backstage. They all seemed unplanned and a mess so there was no point in including bad footage. Also, lots of the shots that we took at the actual play had lighting issues due to the fact that the spotlights were SO bright. I honestly think my partner almost killed me when i told her i hated the interviews but after a few minutes of watching them she agreed.
We now have a better idea: The first 5 minutes of the whole documentary.
WHY?
  • New interviews all focused on prep and practice for the show
  • We could show both the hard part of practice and the fun part
  • We had sooo much footage of practice
  • It was noticeable how much time this drama team puts into selling tickets and prepping everything for the show.
Unfortunately, we had to replace one of the actors we filmed but we found another one to replace her and the interviews came out just as amazing.

I am very very very excited for more editing this weekend…

http://www… Website DONE!

Our next task is now complete and I could not be happier!
The website starts off with a the same photo that will be included on our print AD (we have not decided this picture yet, we have a couple options in mind). Then, as the viewer scrolls, we give a brief description about how the show came to be, where it will be shown (Freeform Channel), and how the show will also be shown at local film festival. My partner and I included a photo of the each of us, in order to show the viewers the faces behind the show! As the website continues, there will be our 5 minute preview of Episode 1: Cypress Bay High School (our final project). This came across as a good idea due to the fact that after viewers see this piece of the show, they will want to continue to watch on Freeform and follow along as the show goes on. But we are not done yet!! Next on the side, we included some merch! The merch includes our logo and show name (PRESS PLAY). The merch can be purchased on the side and includes: hats, t-shirts, and phone cases! All of the merch for the show is reasonably priced so that people are able to afford the merch without stress. Last but not least, The website contains links to all of our social media sites. These sites consist of Twitter, Instagram and Youtube. The sites will include updates, interviews with actors, sneak peaks and much more for viewers to interact directly with the show!!
